Cassidy Meets Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy Krueger will have his hands full in the new A Nightmare on Elm Street, especially with the latest member to join the cast.

Actress Katie Cassidy has taken the role of “Kris” in the Samuel Bayer-directed reboot of Wes Craven’s ’84 slasher film. She’s the second female lead to sign aboard after Rooney Mara. Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger also star.

Cassidy is no stranger to Supernatural fans. She had a good run on the CW horror series as the demon Ruby. Prior to that stint she played the final girl in the Black Christmas remake and was recently seen kidnapped in the Liam Neeson-starring hit Taken. Television viewers can also find her on Harper’s Island.

A Nightmare on Elm Street begins rolling next month in the Chicago area and hits theaters on April 16, 2010.

Rather than canceling the struggling serialized murder mystery Harper’s Island, CBS announced today it will move the show from Thursdays at 10pm to Saturdays at 9pm, starting May 2. According to a network release, the 13-week limited series showed improvement in DVR and online viewership, an indication that it had enough of an audience to sustain the show through the end of its run.

Harpers Island is a 13-episode murder mystery about a group of family and friends who travel to a secluded island for a destination wedding. They’ve come to laugh… to love… and, though they don’t know it… to die. Melrose Place Remake Has Its First Tenant

Posted on Apr 14, 2009 • Filed under: Melrose Place,News — Webmaster @ 5:27 pm

The apartment complex on The CW’s remake of Melrose Place is starting to get new residents.

First up? Actress Katie Cassidy, who is also a cast member on CBS’s buzzed-about upcoming murder mystery series, Harper’s Island. The two project’s won’t conflict because Harper‘s will have a new cast next season if the series is renewed.

Cassidy, 22, who is the daughter of The Partridge Family‘s David Cassidy, will play a sexy, sassy up-and-coming publicist on the remake.

And rumor has it that Mischa Barton has also auditioned for a role on the series’ pilot, but her rep says there’s no official news to share at this time.
