Actress Katie Cassidy has taken the role of “Kris” in the Samuel Bayer-directed reboot of Wes Craven’s ’84 slasher film. She’s the second female lead to sign aboard after Rooney Mara. Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger also star. Cassidy is no stranger to Supernatural fans. She had a good run on the CW horror series as the demon Ruby. Prior to that stint she played the final girl in the Black Christmas remake and was recently seen kidnapped in the Liam Neeson-starring hit Taken. Television viewers can also find her on Harper’s Island. A Nightmare on Elm Street begins rolling next month in the Chicago area and hits theaters on April 16, 2010. Cassidy, 22, who is the daughter of The Partridge Family‘s David Cassidy, will play a sexy, sassy up-and-coming publicist on the remake.
